This years seedlings.

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my seedlings from this year. Sadly I have not started as many seeds as I would have liked but there is still time.. Heheh.

I do want to mention that many of the seedlings will be the same varieties as Rick. He was kind enough to share some seed with me. We are trying to see growth rates and patterns in different climates. I'm down in El Paso, Tx where we get sun about 302 days out of the year. We are currently in our monsoon season, ans haven't received much rain. I usually bring the plants in late October early November depending on the temps. The seed was started indoors and then taken out to enjoy the sun. We recently built a shade to help with the summer heat.

On to seedlings.

These are A.swazicum. I had these out in full sun and let them dry out too much so they got weird at the base. I think it's sunburn? Luckily, I still have some seed left over so I will be starting those.

These are A.arabicum dwarf strains.

This lonely guy is A.obesum x A. arabicum. This one also dried out too much.

These are A.obesum x A.crispum.

These are A.arabicum x A.crispum.

These last ones are A.arabicum Hanzo dwarf? (Not sure of the last part. Didn't pull out the tag.) these are probably the tallest of the bunch.

I should have repotted a few weeks ago, but I don't want to slow down growth.

They look marvelous, Maark. It is great seeing them growing in different climates. Yours will be sure to advance well over the next few months.

They all look great. May I ask why you start them indoors? I ask because my first set of seeds should arrive in about a week and I live in FL. If there is such a thing as too hot for the seeds, I don't want to ruin them.

I started the seed indoors because it was still too cold. I believe I started these around Feb or March. I usually start seeds using the baggie method, or in plastic take out containers. I'm thinking if you start seed now outdoors, you would need to keep the pots in semi shade and moist.

Thank you for the information. I'm thinking of starting them outside, just need to find a decent shaded area.

Howdy all, here are some updates from the plants above.

A. swazicum

A. obesum x A. crispum.

A. arabicum x A. crispum. The one in the center is probably the fattest in the pot.

A. arabicum, dwarf varieties. These are taller than the rest and are supposed to be dwarf.

And a lonely A. obesum x A. arabicum hybrid.

Somehow I missed the original post. Fantastic seedlings, Mark. I love the variety you have selected here, particularly the A.swazicum (hope they make it). I will be keeping an eye on this thread closely.

I'm hoping I can keep them growing through the winter. I plan on getting some more seeds so space under lights will be limited. I hope the A. swazicum make it too. Have always wanted some that variety. I actually started some seed on 8/23/15 and the seed sprouted within about 5 days. I had the heat mat on for a couple of hours for a few days.
