Could it be extra floral nectaries?

Anyone familiar with large Anthuriums?

I know that probably nobody cares, but it appears as though it is a recuring thing and it is either left over from guttation, the way Ficus get a waxy build-up or its extrafloral nectaries.

Either way, normal and to be expected, unless someone has better information.

I haven't ever seen guttation in the traditional sense but apparently ficus has a waxy buildup from its guttation.

Is your plant making more of this white waxy stuff? But, if you haven't seen any of the dew drops, it must be from something else. Hmmm, a mystery.

You can't really tell it's there unless you touch it. I can't really remember why I discovered it at first but decided to wipe the same area the other night and it was back, whatever it is, lol.

if I were more adventurous (or had a guy named Dave or something) then I'd taste it (or have him taste it, lol).

[Backstory: I knew a Hort guy that told some of his aquatic plant species apart by taste. Give him a plant and he'd probably taste it....well, an aquatic plant anyway]

i think a picture - a good clear close-up is in order. may be even from sev leaves for a comparison. also, once you wipe it off - mark the leaf (tie a string on it or smth) and check from time to time how fast the build-up collects again. a snap another pic.

Oh, it doesn't turn white until you disturb it. It takes quite a while to build up. I wiped it when I first got it and it had a lot of build up (there are only two leaves so it's easy to keep track lol) then when I updated this, there was only a small amount. I'll leave it for a while and then take a picture, maybe even a video of me wiping it off so you can see what it looks like. Reminds me of soy candle wax, tbh.

well, i found mention of cuticle on leaves of anthuriums: cuticle is a waxy build-up of cutin. it reduces evaporation when there is not enough water. also protects from insects.

you might want to search some more on that - it's mostly in scientific studies though, hard to read.
