I've been wanting to try one of these. I currently have the kind with the purple bottomed leaves that are purple with mottled green.

I split it into two plants to see if a 2 inch plastic pot or a 3 inch Terra cotta pot were better/easier to grow them in.

The jury is still out. These seem to be pretty tough plants.

Is it still blooming? I tried to root a cutting of this, but it failed.

We're off topic here as this is a bromeliad forum and I'll probably get drummed out of the regiment for adding to it, but I think the plant in your picture is what we here in Australia call the Flying Goldfish Plant (Columnea gloriosa )

Its still blooming.

Nev,it's in the Aeschynanthus family. It's not as heavy a bloomer as some out there,but the twisted leaves,the reddish purple color in summer make it stand out from the crowd. As I mentioned,it rests in spring,early summer. It will still be blooming on New Years Day...cool or rainy.

Interesting,I see GW doesn't have a Epiphytes forum. There is a need! Or add that to this forums title.
