I've seen two at once so far this year, hoping for a half dozen more as the season wears on. Last year I had a max of 8-10 at one time for a week or so in late August or September.

Lucky you! Location plays a huge role in how many hummingbirds you can lure. My MIL lives along a migration route, where there is limited natural food sources and few neighborhood feeders put out--she gets hundreds at a time during the summer months. I live where here are resident species and migrants. But the neighborhood has an abundant amount of food sources and feeders are common. So if I have twenty hummers at one time, it is a good day.

My heart goes out to you for your recent loss. Your wife must have been very dedicated to these hummers to feed as many as you're getting. You're a real gem to take over for her. I can't imagine having as many as you do. With so many of them, your hummers must be forced to get along.

I've got two feeders on opposite sides of my house and many patches of monarda and other flowering plants they enjoy. I thought I only had a couple in my yard until I sat out there one day and saw six racing around. I think they all get their turns, but there are dominant ones that try to keep everyone else away. I tell them I'll put more food out if they will share, but they never listen to me. :-)

I have three feeders around my house. Probably have about 8 hummers. How does one actually count them when you see 1 or 2 at a time around a feeder. Only guessing.

That's amazing! So many at once. I've never had anywhere near that many in my neck of the woods. Thanks for sharing the video.

I must be in a migration path because I am feeding 9 cups of sugar water per day right now. It's this way every year at this time. I have had feeders out for about 30 years so I guess they know where to come by. Normally thru the summer I feed about half a cup per day.
