What color carpet?

I'm replacing the carpet in my bedroom, but despite hours in the carpet store, I'm still undecided. I think I want plain (no pattern) but now I'm torn over the color. Should I keep it light like it is? I was toying with the idea of going dark.

I included photos of the entryways so you can see the transitions that I'm working with.

I think a light slightly cooler color carpet will work in the room, but I would suggest a textured short cut pile. Luxurious, but a bit more unique. These images are for pattern only, not necessarily for color. All from HD.

I think a light color but with a slight texture/pattern. You may have to click on picture to see the faint diamond design.

Thanks! I was thinking of putting this carpet in my closet. What do you think of putting this in the bedroom as well?

The bottom, middle one. (The lightest one)

My bedroom is very similar in style and color. I'd keep it light and neutral.

Certainly more interesting than plain cut pile. Don't like the mirror over the bed. Looks too farmhouse. Art would be better.

I would run the hardwood from the hall right into the bedroom.........and do NOT do a dark carpet unless you love your hand attached to the vacuum cleaner foraging stuck on sock lint.....

I like your selection Brandy. Light & pattern are good suggestions. Dark carpets will show lots of light lint.

My photoshop skills are weak, but here's a painting I have that I could put above the bed.

I'm off to look at carpet again. Ugh.

I have to agree with the Pro above that suggested a suggest a textured short cut pile. It is much more luxurious and will give the room an elevated elegance. I disagree with all the posts about not going darker. The room has very little variety in tone so having a darker carpet to ground the room would not be ill advised. I would go take a cue from the darker veins in your stone floor to assist you in picking the color if you want to go darker. I do not have clients complaining about lint etc.

It is a trend that has had it's time. If going for a wall-to-wall, stay light & either wool or nylon for ease of care. You could go with one of the short shag multi colored piles.

Make sure to interview several and look carefully at their portfolios. I've seen more than a few Design Dilemmas that were trying to undo the work of a "professional".
