I'd leave them alone. Lots of times grasses look dismal when first planted. Were the roots real thick and a solid white mass? Often grasses are so severely root bound they don't ever take hold in surrounding soil or else seem to take forever. I rough up or cut through the roots and try to shake out that potting soil when they are like that and I also try to avoid buying root bound grasses, I pull out the plant look at them in the store when I suspect that. Karl F. doesn't like over watering by the way so don't go overboard on it.

I do not recall the roots being a solid mass but I probably should have roughed them up a bit. I think I will just let them both be and see what happens before winter strikes and if they look worse I can always take them out. I'll lay off the water a bit too...it's been hitting 100 degrees almost everyday and they are in the sun and with them being newly planted I thought maybe I wasn't giving them enough! Its a cool season grass which means it goes dormant in summer, in other words, it takes a nap. That is when its easiest to kill it with kindness (over watering). I know, I killed three a few years ago. Come spring it'll probably start growing but not now. The best time to plant cool season plants is in early spring, winter or fall when their roots are actively growing.

I probably should have looked into a bit more (was an impulse buy) but I spent some time reading about the difference in cool/warm weather grasses. Best leave it alone for now and come early spring give it a trim and have regrowth if I'm lucky! Thank you again!
