I am thrilled to say that I now have a full pot of baby plants from root slices. I had never heard of propagating like this before, but i decided to try it. Cut the bulb into four slices, but one rotted away in the pot. The other three put out two babies apiece, so I now have 6 from one. These were bulbs I found in a trash pile on the side of the road, and I have no idea what color they are, but I love garden surprises.

I also grew a few orange Hippeastrum (species unknown) from the seed-floating method. Unfortunately, I had to move and had to discard the rest of the floating seeds, but I have more and this species multiples and spreads from seeds like mad, so I'm not concerned.

Since I moved to North Florida from South Florida, I have become more interested in these bulbs, since they do so well here, and are such great passalong plants.
