Hi. How do you feel about turquoise? I would add a new rug, lamps, sofa table, and I would also frame the mirror in wood trim. Pillows would be nice too.

Hi. Lots' of potential here!

-you don't have to place the sofa with it's back to the kitchen. Actually in this space, I would recommend the sofa against the wall and 2 chairs floated where the sofa is now.

-I would place the tv straight on the wall (not angled) (ideally it should be hung on the wall)

-please remove the rug. You already have carpeting and this is just adding a lot of unnecessary darkness.

-the drapes really depend on what you see as their function-privacy/darkening, etc.

When color is needed an accent wall is usually a good option..in this case since you like turquoise and none of the walls from the photo views seem to be just right ....how about a pale Aqua ceiling? Lots of color and light reflection could really brighten up the room

Maybe also paint the work station niche in the kitchen ,same color

As to the mirror frame think French door framing...small squares overall will bring it more into scale with the room

Suggestions:

1. Remove the mirror from over the fireplace.

2. Install the TV over the fireplace.

3. Rotate the couch to face the fireplace or as already suggested against the large open wall. Place your white chair, back to the opposite wall facing the couch. You may want to remove the extended section (chaise) of the couch and use it as a second "chair" if possible. This opens the flow of the room, will make it feel spacious and comfortable giving you a clear site from the living room to the dining room.

4. Place a couch table behind the couch. Here you can place two lamps for reading and back light.

5. I agree, removing the rug from the scene is a good idea. You could make pillows from it. A wild and crazy idea.

6. Find a large vase in the same colors as the lamps and place it on the hearth.

7. A large painting as suggested over the couch on the large wall behind would help pull the room together. Selecting a painting first and using that as your color palate is a great way to go when deciding what accent colors works best throughout the room. It looks as if you like blue and yellow. I see the chair on the patio is blue and it looks like you already have a yellow lamp. Since you already have these two colors going it would be great to keep them going from the patio to the kitchen. Remove large mirror over fireplace. Add a 36" art instead, go Bold colors. Same with pillows. No rugs over rug. Get a round 24" coffee table or a ottoman. Lose fireplace items. I would paint brick on FP a bold accent color. On slider just panels on ends only. Go a bold color as a accent same color in pillows. Ceiling fan needs a update, no gold. Don't like the hanging plant.
