YARD HELP!

I live in Columbus Ohio and this is the year I want to go organic. I'm really tired of Scotts everything, it feels like they are selling me product but not necessarily a great lawn. My soil is the clay type which is popular here in Columbus especially in newer subdivisions. I have mostly a perennial ryegrass lawn but it doesn't fill in so I'm reseeding this September with KBG and my lawn is mostly sun. So what I need to know lawn experts is after I Aerate and seed what organic fertilizer do I use and what schedule should I start? I want to be done with Scotts but should I still buy there KBG seed or is there someone better? It sounds like even with organic fertilizer you spot treat weeds with Weedbgone? Any and all help is appreciated.
