Deanna growing dyckia indoors would be difficult and expensive endeavor. They are very similar to a cactus and require alot of light.. I grow about 100 varieties including "Dakota". They are a hardy plant once they get going.

Why would it be expensive?

Growing sun loving plants require special lighting and its expensive.

If you have an unobstructed south facing window you could set it in, you may be able to over winter it. I have some cacti that do "ok" this way. Not ideal by any any stretch, but worth a shot without the expense.

You might try Rainforest Flora in Torrance, CA for plants. I have several Dyckia - a couple were given to me, but I bought one or two myself. Some are in almost full sun, but some get quite a bit of protection from too much sun and still do very well.
