New Ceiling to match horizontal beadboard?

last modified: 11 years ago

1920's home with horizontal beadboard in the sunroom. It's not perfect, but in overall great shape - painted blue right now which I think complements the house very well.

The ceiling looks like 12"x12" glued on tiles, made of something like cardboard? When I removed the beat up moulding at the ceiling, some parts flaked off revealing a brown interior.

Trying to figure out what to do with the ceiling! Room is 9'x12', beautiful wood floor, great old door and replacement white vinyl windows. Are foam ceiling tiles with a simple design too much for a small room? Will tongue and groove create too many lines running down the length of the room? I'd like to do something more interesting than drywall, any ideas?

Thanks!
