Moving new lily

I planted a potted asiatic lily when they were in the stores last month. It's bloomed and gone, and now I've decided I don't like the spot I chose for planting. It's a short lily, about a foot high, and I should have planted it closer to the front.

When should I do this? Now? Later this fall? Next year?

Also, it was two stalks in a pot, and when I planted it, I planted the entire root ball with the soil, without exposing the bulb(s). Is this likely to be two bulbs, or just one with two stalks?
