Clearly not all the bulbs you moved were daffodils. Or there were some other bulbs already in the place you moved them to. Daffs can't turn into something else. If you post a picture someone can tell you what the flowers are. One possibility at this time of year is Nerine bowdenii.

I checked some of your previous posts and found you said you were in zone 7a. Nerine bowdenii is not realiably hardy in 7a, so an alternate which is hardy there is Lycoris squamigera (surprise lily, naked ladies). They put up leaves in the spring, which look something like thicker, larger daffodil leaves, and they die back in early summer. Then in mid to late summer the flower stalks come up, with pink flowers.

Were the daffodils blooming when you moved them? If so, you may have had some lycoris (or nerine) bulbs mixed in the area you dug up, or in the area you moved them to. If they were not blooming and just leaves with no flower stalks visible, it may have been mistaken identity.

Definitely sounds like naked ladies. Pink flowers? The ones that used to grow back in Iowa City when I lived there years ago, grew into some impressive patches. The key is not to mow the early foliage until it dies back and then not to mow the emerging flower spike that show up almost like magic later generally in August. There are pictures to compare all over the internet. If you google it be sure to google 'naked ladies flowers' or you may come up with some images of another type of interest altogether. :o) On second thought better to google 'magic lilies' or 'surprise lilies'.

They are the surprise lilies, thank you! A friend gave us a bunch of daffodils that he divided and two of them must have gotten mixed up in the batch. It's amazing how fast they grew and bloomed!
