I'm not sure how Jan Gleysteen Architects did it, but you can definitely achieve this look with LED Strip Lighting. We usually recommend that our customers us our normal bright LED strips, which won't be as bright as your typical under cabinet lights but will give you a nice glow inside of your cabinets. You can line the front of the cabinets in an upside down "U" shape to provide an even glow throughout the cabinet. OR you can go one step brighter with super bright and place a strip of LEDs at the very top, shining down.
