I'd line the baskets with some sphagnum moss, but in theory, if you could keep them humid, it could work. My concern is how often I'd have to take them down to water, and the drip marks down the wall that would probably result. It's not a look I'd want, even with tile. OTOH, if you put mesh pots inside something like the rounded hanging Ikea pots to catch the water, it would be quite well-contained and cute.

Is this a photo from a catalog or ad for something? If so what for the plants or the pots? I guess it would work if the light, temperature, and watering are done right.

I don't like that the baskets are metal, I've seen roots stick to just about everything except metal, it tends to burn the roots. I also think they would rust a bit and leave a stain on the wall.

Another problem will be the roots attaching to the wall and being damaged when removed for watering.

I wonder how they attached the clothes pin to the wall, drilling a hole in your tile seems like a big commitment .

It could work if you have enough light. This looks like a home decorating picture. Metal would put rust marks on the wall and lumpy is right...how are the clothes-pins attached to the wall?

I actually grow some orchids in metal baskets and they do very well. Their roots grow through the basket. But they are hanging in trees. They would drop rust stains all over if not. The biggest problem with the photo is the amount of light. In the photo, the room appears bright. If you could provide good light and temperature drop in Fall, they would be fine. I grow some Phals mounted to wood but I'm in Florida and the air is very humid.
