The counter is granite. The backsplash is marble which will be sealed. Here is a close up of the tile. Behind is my old countertop that is being replaced by the granite show above, it's called White Ice.

I like the look, but the picture above appears to have a lot more gray in it.

I tend to pick arabesque or Moroccan shapes in fabrics for the home, so when I saw this tile in a magazine, I asked my contractor to get me a sample - and the photos really don't do it any justice. I, too, was thinking of a subway tile, to be on the safe side, but this is my one and only kitchen reno and I didn't want to have any regrets. I've basically picked everything else out around this back splash.
