Most likely - tomato fruit worm (aka corn ear worm). Bt dust or spray is the standard control. If you harvest at color break instead of leaving them on the vine you can avoid most of them. He may still be inside but you can just cut him out and eat the rest. His entrance hole is tine compared to his exit hole. They usually eat their way out near the stem.

I have not sprayed a thing for over fifteen years but as of today, I've sprayed BT. I can't take anymore of this!! LOL

I looked through all of the remaining tomatoes and threw away every single one with any kind of a hole or mark. What I did pick off, I made sure were pristine and then ate them. After seeing your answer, I realized I have absolutely ZERO desire to see a worm eating the inside of my tomato, and there are entirely too many tomatoes in the world for me to try this!!

Exactly right . I have heard of fruit worms getting into apples but never heard of fruit worm getting into tomatoes. No I have learned . Thanks to Dave for letting us know.
