Lowes JJ winding down

So, after waiting 3 weeks like I was told from the Lowes nursery manager, the long awaited "last" shipment came in Oxnard today...all Cstars. Ventura got 20 JJ plants on Monday and I missed it. After getting there today, 8 "Sweetness" ones were left. Very small and loose. Don't think I saw that one on the site. A few others but all were very small and no inflos on any of the ones left. Makes me wonder what went out the door. So I quickly called my friend by Burbank. He got 2 in big containers that he had not seen used before. 1 was Christina and the other Dulcemia. No inflos on those either. Because the open house is over is the season winding down for shipments? Anyone else finding new ones ? roxanne

I want to see but I don't have a Facebook account. Can someone upload that picture in this thread?

This is the one they posted. Can't tell if one of the back ones is one I wanted. Lol

    Thanks, Jackie!

These 4 inch pots are a new thing, right? Maybe I'll go to directly to Jungle Jack's in Vista and ask if they have anymore 4 inchers in their greenhouses. I know they are going to be one of the vendors at the The Plant Stand in Orange County this weekend. I hope they didn't load up the trucks with all of these little guys. These prices are even cheaper than what other places charge for run-of-the-mill unrooted cuttings.

Tell me about it! Some even have roots coming out the bottom. They're so tall for those pots they need to be repotted anyway.

I bought the flat at Ventura Lowe's and (I'm not sure why) then got some more at Oxnard Lowe's. I was not planning on buying that many and I picked out a handful and put them in a small cart (quickly too full) and then I thought, dang how am I going to get these top-heavy plants home. The solution, just buy one entire flat in their perfect little rack.

However, none of this is my fault and I blame my fellow Ventura resident, ROX146, for making me do this.

    mahalos Mike...LOL

Haha! This is true...but if I hadn't seen this post updated I would have gone to Costa Mesa to get these this weekend. Glad I saved a few bucks. :) Got any purples you want to sell oceanfrontview? ;)

I got the only 2 Fuji Mists that were there this shipment....Oxnard store.

I wasn't sure what Ventura got or if he went through before you. Some stores got other purples like Purple Jack. I've seen Jackie which I want too just because of the name. :)

yes, I have Roxy...my nickname. I was the first to both stores....only bought 2 at each, then called my friend. :-)))) He bought the tray. Wonder if they will get more as they went so darn fast.

Well, my local Lowes didn't have the small ones, but the one in Rancho Cucamonga did, although they were all Premium colors (pink-white, yellow-white, rainbow), plus a couple of Divines. I did score a 2 gal Temple Fire, though (!!) - it looked like someone had picked it up and then put it back down, since it wasn't with the rest of the plants. Everything else (full size) were Premium colors or C-Stars.

WOW O WOW...Temple Fire!!!!!! Yikes you scored.

YIKES again....both our stores had tons. Small pint size inside and 1 and 2 gallons outside....get them while you can you guys. Scored some secret code on the stem pints and Artistry from the bigger outside ones....Love it John....many Mahalos.....roxanne

Man, I had a feeling yesterday and I guess it came true! Haha hopefully I can get a couple this time I need!

Xanadu is still there and some great Inca gold and a nice Ca. Sunset, in Oxnard. Ventura has mostly Honeypots and Divine. Both stores have lots of Premium Pink White in the 4 inches. Good luck and have fun! Oh, and Firestorm, 1 at each store.

and I remember seeing a 2 tip Gina...

Yeah the firestorm at Oxnard was gone and I had the one in Ventura until I saw it was $30. I picked up the Gina. Everything else I could live without. CA sunset was still at Oxnard but I got one last weekend at the plant stand sale so I'll let someone else have it. :) Didn't see Xanadu. No interesting tiny ones, very basic. The secret is getting out...multiple people looking through them. Lol

    Xanadu was at Oxnard...multi tipped.

JJ has finally made an appearance at HD up here. They had a few larger plants, and a flat of the mini-pots. I picked up a Mini-Me! Word of warning, though - the soil was soaked, the plant had a few wrinkles, and when I (gently) pulled it out of the pot - it had no roots!! So, I'm bag rooting it. I got another Premium rainbow mini-pot - that one did have roots.

I heard people were getting some of the small ones not rooted. :/ Where are you located daogirl?

I'm in the inland empire (east LA county). The Mini-Me looked like it might've had roots before, but it seemed like all the plants were really loose in their pots, so who knows.

I got a little worried and checked my mini plants for roots. Although all had healthy leaves, I found one without any roots. I spotted 3 popcorn nubs and that was it. I separated this plant from the rest so I will remember not to water it.

I repotted the Divine I got in a 4 inch pot and it was almost root bound in there. The other two were too wet so I'll check them this week when they dry out.

John was nice about emailing back comments on the codes I sent him photos of. One was Tai Surprise I already had. The others are not named yet, maybe I will luck out like I did last year with 2 Premium Pinks that turned out to be named Versailles.... :-)

I have one without a tag...what code can you use to identify?

Jackie - you might give a test pull to the ones in wet soil. The one that I got without roots was soaking wet - at first I thought it was just because they overwatered it, but once I pulled it to repot it, I realized it was because there were no roots to take up the water. So, I'd check, because if it doesn't have roots, you probably don't want it sitting in super-wet soil.

As for the codes, if there is one, it'll be written on the stem somewhere in black marker. Not all of them have them, though.

Rox - that's excellent news about Versailles! John was unable to ID my premium pink last year - he said to wait until it blooms again, and then send him updated pictures.

    darn spell check.....4 inchers

Thanks daogirl! The two that are wet were a little loose when I got them but had some roots sticking out the bottom. I tried pulling one the other day and heard a tear so there's something in there.

Are those mini ones really $6.99 each? I havent seen these yet at the Lowes I usually go to. :/

I see a lot of plumerias from the other wholesale nurseries like La Verne. It's funny how these are barely touched (there are tons of them just sitting there).

One of them fell over in the wind and snapped his roots off so I have to start over with that one. I cut it and am letting it callous now. I repotted the other but it had a weak root system.

Dar - the Upland and Racho Cucamonga Lowes had them (not sure if they still do). You didn't miss much, though, since they were mostly premium colors with the occasional Divine and Mini-White thrown in.

I don't know if all Premium Pinks from this year are the same but I saw a blooming 5 gallon Premium Pink in Jungle Jack's Vista greenhouse a couple days ago and it looked pretty.

A little bird told me more are coming late next week.... :-)))) Hoping.

We got JJ this year at HD and Lowes in Florida, but mostly just inca gold and a few pinks. Nothing like the ones I see on here!

Rox or anyone else going to Oxnard Lowe's today? It would be nice to meet some fellow plumeria enthusiasts before the season is over. :)

Jackie...I popped in VTA...nothing new....hoping tomorrow??? But Friend said he would call or text if new ones. How far are you or which one is closer for you? roxanne

I'm kinda in the middle but Ventura told me they won't get anymore shipments this year so I'll be at Oxnard tomorrow maybe. Getting over food poisoning from earlier this week. :(

If VTA is not getting any then probably Oxnard is not either....VTA is a "A" rated Lowes and Oxnard I was told is a "b-" Lowes.....

Well shoot. Maybe they'll surprise us tomorrow. If not, there's always next year!

we are riding bikes to the home show today at noon to say HI to Clare again....maybe see you there?

That snuck up on me! I forgot I have free admission tickets for that. I'll probably go this weekend. In case I don't make it, tell her I love her Kimo and my friend loves her Kauka Wilder! I don't know if she remembers me. Lol

Just back from Lowes Oxnard, nothing...only generics from another grower.

I called and talked to the guy in the garden dept and he said Corey is done with JJ and cstars for the year. Ah well.

cheers till next May then...off to the home show

Jackie, Clare has the most ever in her booth. She does remember you and I told her you were coming.... enjoy.

Mahalo rox. :) I have a feeling I'll come home with another plant tomorrow.

they all looked so great. I am sure we shall meet one of these days....are you in mid town? We are down by Pierpont....Plumies grow in both areas. :-)

She had a great booth! Lots of people looking. I almost got an Elsie but I'll wait and get one next year hopefully blooming. I have enough to keep me busy for now. :) I'm in East Ventura. They've been loving it here!

My friend I hooked on them lives there too....
