Now I see the whole space. Reverse the room and leave the drapes to frame the couch which will now go where you have the tv. Move the tv to the other white console. Put the couch in front of the windows facing the tv and the printed chair in the corner next to the fireplace where you have the big brown chair to start..

YEP TV is on the wrong wall. Put the couch there, just try to move the console and couch first before you actually more the tv and see if you like it. The drapes will frame the gray couch and it might all come together with just a few tweeks.

No need to have two white consoles. You daughter will have a play area next to the fireplace. Make that a reading nook. My kids loved that when they were little. Pillows on the floor, books, etc. Remove the rack with blankets for now too.

I would also move the tv console or the other console (whichever you decide to not use in the LR) by the front door, adding baskets for storage and add a mirror over it so it gets reused as an entrance piece. I like using what people have. We are just reworking what you have and I would also raise the curtains when you move the couch.

I will say...we chose to put the TV between the windows so we could see out. My husband, unfortunately, won't go for moving the TV:)

Shorten the curtains and leave them open. They are not meant to be shoved together. They should be more like a frame.

I did a floor plan with the TV as is. Husbands are funny sometimes :>). I would sell the brown chair (of course it is probably Hubby's favorite) and get a different chair for the room. If that is Hubby's favorite may he can get a new one for beside the sofa that goes in the room a bit better. I added a storage ottoman for storing the toys when the toddler is not using them.

You need access into the seating area. I added floor lamp in corner.

Not the right curtains for this room and they are too long. They are cute though and may work elsewhere!

Hope you get to use some of this advise because right now you have a three ring circus arrangement. Know how hard it is rearranging men. lol

I agree with everyone about the furniture placement, as far as the curtains, just raise the rods.

Speaking of painting, I'd paint that fireplace.

Please put 2 panels on a window and retake the photo. I like the pattern but you only have one panel which looks odd. With this style they should be hung off the floor.

The TV is mounted on the wall, so that will probably stay there. I can try and arrange the rest , just not sure how. This has been an issue with the room from the beginning and this was the best I could come up with how the room is set up:( it's not a big room so there are limited options with my husband not getting rid of his chair....

Move the sofa between the windows and then think of the picture on the other console as the TV. See if you like the thought of the tv on that other wall before you move the tv. .

Take another picture from the tv into the room getting the other console in the picture and the space.

I'm off line for a few hours, that should give you time to move stuff around. You can always move it back. He will still have his TV, just in a different spot. It's a win win :) Look at the old owners arrangement, look how they had a console by the front door. I do not like their arrangement for the room either.

If you raised the rods so that the fabric wouldn't touch or puddle on the floor you will get a better result , also remove some of the items on the cabinet there are too many and use a large piece instead.Like a black vase for example.

Draw both panels to one side when opening them this will keep balance to the window and include the TV as well . All to the left on the first window and all to the right on the second one :)

Agree with Genevieve. Just raise the rods so the curtains barely touch the floor. I would turn the sofa so it's parallel to either the TV or the fireplace and put the console table/low bookcase behind the sofa. If the sofa faces the TV, then you can fill the bookcase with toys.

You have too many seats in this room. If all the seats must stay in the this space, then I would put the large sofa centered and square in front of the TV. The brown chair should go in a corner by the fireplace and the floral chair can either go to in the other corner of the fireplace or placed to the left of the TV next to the couch.

As for toys - get some nice baskets and place them in the shelf behind the couch. That should give you plenty of toy storage in the this room. I really enjoy the Montessori approach to toys and I display and keep out a few toys and books that my child is really into at the moment and store the rest. Then on a weekly/monthly basis - rotate the toys. This keeps the toys "new" and interesting. Because the toys stay interesting, you don't need to buy as many new toys to keep them engaged. Also look at quality over quantity. Having a small selection of quality toys that will keep their hands/minds active is better than having 50 cheap toys that they stay interested in for only a couple hours/days.

Living Rooms and children always makes an interesting combo. :)

You can raise the curtain rods, but if you go to Joann fabric you can get some iron on tape for hemming. I did the tops of my curtains with it and works great. I appears that if you hem them so that last wide grey stripe on the bottom just touches the floor, they will be perfect and you have the line already in place so makes it easy. Close the curtains, pin one panel up first and make sure the length is right.

Looks so much better. Can you return or exchange the curtains for a longer length? I like the curtains but I think they need to extend to the ceiling.

Get the curtains up as high as you can to the ceiling. You might need to take the hem out at the bottom and re-sew/tape it. I would not worry about taking them back and getting a longer length. Find a chest that you can put the toys in, so that if you entertain, you can easily throw the toys into it.

The curtains are fine, get the bottoms off the floor and move on.

Love the console in the foyer. Now its useful. . Shop for a big mirror and add baskets for storage and a few acessorizes. I think you have some already.

I would also paint the tv console black so you don't have two white cabinets and also the shelf above the fireplace.

Better BUT the reason I don't like this arrangement either is because the couch still blocks the dining room. You have to walk around the couch and chair to leave the dining room or enter it. The flow is bad and there is alot of wasted space behind the couch now for no reason. If the couch was between the windows, you would have enough room and space to even add a coffee table and keep the two chairs. I would keep hubbys chair and put it next to the fireplace. It's your house so I can just make suggestions on how my eyes see it. I do hope you just try the couch between the windows It just takes manpower, no money. The curtains will need to be raised at some point but the arrangement comes first. I want everyone to live beautifully in their own home with their things.

I see a mirror in the DR. Use that over the foyer console instead of buying one. It will bounce the light around. What does it reflect in the DR? People don't like to look at themselves eating anyway. I'm shopping your house because you have all the right things with just a few tweaks. I love using what people own in a different way.

I really like the angled arrangement. My sofas are both at an angle to my tv and it works great as I like to lie down or snuggle up into the corner.

I would suggest you put the TV on the stand that is shown to the right of the wide doorway in the third photo. Then, I would suggest you put the plain-colored sofa in front of the two windows that have the plaid curtains. Of course, you will need to move out the TV stand you had been using and possibly find another place for it in the house. I would suggest you have the print chairs flank the fireplace. You may have to angle the TV in its new location so that everyone can see the screen. I would suggest you keep the carpeting as it is and add an area rug, maybe in dark brown and turquoise, to the center of the room.

I am not a fan of angled furniture for this room. It will cut it off and still block the entrance to the DR. Do not paint the fireplace either. It is beautiful.

I hope you at least try to move the furniture like I suggested. Only once in all the years on here did someone take offense last year when I suggested she move the furniture. It is hard for people to change and often times, we don't see things in our own house the way other people do with fresh eyes. She only asked about a pillow but I can't ignore the arrangement. Most often , it is the furniture placement that is the problem. People have taken pictures for me with their husbands moving the furniture LOL. It is a simple fix.

The sofa is already angled and there is plenty of room. Pull Hubby's chair up to the corner, put the other chair on the opposite side of the fireplace, angled to face the sofa.

I made a couple more tweaks to the room: lowered the art, added toy bins to the shelves behind the sofa, replaced the way-too-small lamp with a floor lamp, added a palm in the corner. All without disturbing your little photo-bomber. ;-)

hi grover, can you do a mockup of the couch in front of the windows and the tv over the console instead of the picture for her? Can you paint the console black like I suggested too. I wish I had that app to do that. If you can, leave the brown chair in the corner. Can you add a coffee table too for her? I am still not feeling it on an angle in this room. The flow is still weird and everyone has to walk around all the furniture even from the entrance. Some rooms are not angle rooms.

Sorry, tennis, I can't move furniture any better than husbands can move TVs. LOL But her arrangement from yesterday at 6:57AM isn't bad. I'd angle the recliner a bit more though, so it's not so in line with the sofa.

Thanks all! I actually moved the furniture back to the original. I just like it the best with what I have. The white media console will stay white, sorry! I actually made over an old dresser and painted it white so I probably won't paint it:)

Here's my two cents ( give or take) ...
Question: do you use the fireplace? If so, you wouldn't want to sit it in front of FP, as a few hv suggested. I would instead put sofa on opposite side of room, chairs centered and you know a table in between chairs and at Varner if sofa. I wish I could do a draft like others, but I can't. Put your child's chair in to t of window left of TV. It's still there to use when you want ( or baby wants). I would definitely raise the curtain rods, it will take the eye up past the TV instead of chopped off at the TV level. You know what I mean? I have had this issue with my windows and instead of raising the rod, I used a wide valance rod and put it above, and used a valance to add height. You could also use simple cornice board, there are many different styles,shapes and sizes to choose from. I would remove the blankets from the rack and use as a throw for snuggling on the sofa, and tuck the extra away in one of the console drawers. Maybe the rack can be used in a different way. ( thinking outside the box here) If it fits you might try putting the console, with basket cubbies, to the right of fireplace, it would allow more space along that wall. Or flip it and put it behind the sofa for a more purposeful look. I know you said you put all furniture back to original layout, but a little tweak here and there is needed throughout a persons life, and that goes for your home field too! Be happy!
