It would seem that keeping stained timber picture rails is definitely out? I'm looking for inspiration to paint my bedroom. My house is a 1940s Californian Bungalow style that has beautiful stained timber picture rails and skirting throughout. The wardrobe doors also match the timber stain in the master bedroom.
I'm wanting to repaint the bedroom but I was hoping to go for something different to white/cream/beige but choosing something that won't clash with dark stained timber seems impossible!!

Any ideas? Inspiration? Or will I just have to suck it up and paint over them?
