If you hang a statement pendant lamp above the vanity area, then the space will appear more dramatic and spacious. Another idea is placing some great light sconces on both walls that enclose the vanity. This will also create drama, but will also provide a cozier feeling.

Hang a towel ring to the left at a comfortable level to help fill-out the space.

You could also do some glass mosaics on the two side walls of the nook, if your pocket agrees for a more dressed-up and updated look.

Keep your mirror vintage-style, as shown in your pic and make it slightly wider than your vanity, but as high as you can find.

All hardware should be in the chrome to match your faucet fixtures.
