Here's what's happening. Your living room and kitchen are contemporary using cool colors. Your dining room table is more old world Tuscan using warm colors and they are fighting each other! I would look for draperies, rug and table runner that have blue and orange hues in them on a black or dark chocolate background. This will help to tie in the cabinet color. Then add some dark espresso elements such as chunky candle sticks to your tablescape. On the flip side, I would introduce those same colors on some throw pillows and accent decor. I love these draperies below from JCPenney. I'd also change out the valance in your kitchen to reflect the new color scheme. Have fun with it!

Thank you Nancy and Jill. I really appreciate your comments. I agree with you both about me mixing two decor. What if I buy chair slip covers and cover the chairs, will that work some how? Nancy, I like the rugs. Where can I but them?

I think adding slipcovers will just add too much 'weight' to what is already heavy furniture. Just by removing the rust colored table runner you will lighten up the space. If you pull the colors together with the rugs ( and maybe even some table settings) you will lighten up and modernize the dining room.
