Looks like a crane fly, are you sure he's feeding and not just sitting there? I'm not sure they eat when they are in their adult, flying form.

I see, maybe not feeding... is it possible that larva is in the top soil on the tree?

Asking mostly because the tree has some signs of stress. I've recently replanted and cut back a few of the branches.

Highly unlikely that the larvae is doing any damage to your tree. They are primarily lawn pests. And huggorm is correct - adults only live a few days and do not eat. I'd be more concerned about any recent 'replanting' you might have undertaken. Is this tree being grown in a container? That can account for a lot of stress in midsummer if not attended to very carefully.

It is a recent replant into a container. I purchased it from a nursery where it was in hot sun all day long. I've put into a more shady area and trying to keep a careful watch over it. Hence, I get worried when I see any bugs. Still seeing some leaving turning dark and curling, not as much as before but still.
