Your question is confusing. Is it nicotiana or roses that are not blooming? Or both?

Ken pretty much hit it. Lack of flowering can be due to improper fertilization, poor light conditions, watering issues (too much/too little) or even weather and climate. Really anything that causes stress can impair blooming, as the plant is expending all its energy in just trying to stay alive.

Roses also sometimes produce what are known as 'blind canes' or long shoots that never result in flower buds. It is not sure what causes these shoots but stress is considered to be a major factor. Also for grafted roses, sometimes the rootstock will grow extremely vigorously and outcompete the grafted portion for energy, resulting in lack of flowering. It is important to remove any rootstock suckers before they become large.

fwiw, I don't find Houzz to be any more difficult to use than GW - they are pretty much the same, although Houzz offers some better features including the ease of attaching links and photos and the ability to edit or delete posts, which is much better than the old GW. But posting and responding is virtually no different.

Thanks for information but what can I do? Rose bush gets very much sunlight, lots of water and no bugs. Sounds as if I should uproot rose and get another plant. Not grafted rose bush. I still like GW better. website is too fluttery
