What medium are you using to root your cuttings? Did the cutting develop a really good callous on it before you potted it up? What kind of container are you using for rooting?

I would use the heat mat but not the sun if possible because it's such a hot time of year. they really love bottom heat though. Once there are leaves I would slowly introduce sun.

Also, I would say although you've had some root in 2 weeks, as you probably know the norm is usually 4 weeks minimum so sometimes it just takes more time. Give us a little more info & we'll try & help you figure out what's up.

i'm using potting soil, one with a high sand content, that i've used with other cuttings with no problem for the most part. i don't know if it had a callous on it, i can never tell. i've seen pictures of cuttings with callouses, it looks like a sort of blob on the end in the pictures,. i've never had that on a cutting ever, whether it was one that i bought or cut myself. they just look dried at the cut end. i'm using a clear plastic deli container. i've had this all summer,since the spring actually, and it's had leaves since not long after i planted it, which i'm wondering if i should cut them off.

I can't say for sure what is wrong but here is what I have done for the same problem. I have some cuttings since April. Most of the ones I started were fine and they were all in a group being watered after most had rooted. Last month I looked close and noticed some were not really leafed out and had become soft. They had received too much water. At that point I started treating them as a new cutting. I don't water just using a cactus mix and moved them to a shady spot on the porch. No more water. 3 are doing great getting leaves. One was on " life support " being super soft and looking like a goner. But I just leave it alone in the shady but hot porch. Little by little it is firming up. I don't know about the sand in your mix but I would not go longer than 5 or 6 weeks without any water. You can wet the bottom holes if it's really dry to help out. If it's been six weeks since watering do it once really good and then go another 6 weeks. Don't cut any leaves off but wait for new ones. Good luck!
