Are you absolutely certain the flowers are white? It looks exactly like Jasminum nudiflorum, Winter Jasmine, which has yellow flowers in Winter as the name implies. It is full of flower buds which implies it will flower this winter.

Yes it is "Winter Jasmine" (Jasminum nudiflorum). Despite being a true jasmine, this one has no fragrance. It blooms on previous season's growth, before the leaves come out. I have had a few blooms as early as January, but the main bloom time here (zone 6) is late March and April. You can prune it as much as you want, and it will come back no problem, however if you want flowers next winter/spring, I wouldn't prune it now. It's already forming buds for next season's flowers. But after the flowers are gone, cut it as much as you want. Trust me I have one 20 years old and it is no wimp where growing is concerned! If anything, it grows too much. Also, be aware that if the branches touch the soil, they will take root and create a new plant, and that can spread and so forth. But it can be controlled, and it's nice to have something that can actually have flowers IN BLOOM in winter! Good luck.
