here is a picture. sorry for bad quality/back lighting. Maybe I could do something with the really tall branch on the far left of the picture?

Prune it in phases. First, clear out the congestion. Prune back all the branches growing back toward the center of the tree, then prune out branches that are crossing of competing with another branch for the same space by removing the branch that least compliments the composition. Then, select the tree's top, which is a vertical branch, the tip of which is somewhere close to directly above the point where the trunk comes out of the soil. After selecting the leader, prune back any branches that look like they're thinking of competing with the leader for your eye by terminating the competition immediately above a branch growing outward. You're done, unless you tip prune to bring branches back within a loose conical shape (for now). Later, when the tree is at the ht you want, it will quickly fill in the top and round itself out. At that point, you'll need to keep thinning the top & cutting it back to allow light to the interior and lower branches so the tree back-buds and doesn't shed lower branches because they grew weak from shading from the top.

When Ficus b concentrates growth at the apices (branch tips), it needs repotting, fertilizing, or a lighter hand on the watering can.
