Hi Tina, thanks for the question. Most of our fire pits (like the one in this photo) are constructed using cmu walls, then the small circular wall is clad with a thin stone, then the whole thing is capped with either a concrete or real-stone cap. You are correct to assume that this fire pit pictured is a gas-burning pit. We install ceramic log-sets that sit on top of the burner pan to mimic a natural wood-burning fire. We do also specify wood-burning fire pits, but the vast majority are gas-burning. Thanks for the question, and please follow our page to get updates on new project photos as we upload them!
