Looks like leeches to me but hard to say from this distance.

I thought leeches lived in the water. These critters are living in the dirt. Comment?

There are terrestrial leeches and like I said without a better picture it is hard to tell. it could also be a flatworm. I don't believe there are any native terrestrial leeches in north america that feed on humans but I have seen rumors posted on other forums saying that there may be an invasive species from Asia in California.

Leeches are easy to Identify as they will have both a anterior and posterior sucker as well as annuli (rings) around the body.

These are very thin, almost thread-like. No rings apparent.

Then you can rule out leech.

Do these worms leave a silvery mucus looking Trail as they are slithering along? I have a lot of them that in late August early September they were all up on my patio leaving the Silvery mucus looking trail behind as they slithered along and then they just kind of curl up and die and dry out. I would like to know what they are also because I had so many of them I'd like to find out what the Farmers Almanac says about a lot of worms like these. I know one year when we had a lot of granddaddy longlegs and we had a really bad winter sorry just trying to figure out what they are.
