Just redid a small bathroom in my house last year. I like the vanity you're showing, but with a son and husband, I've resigned myself to the fact that toilet splashing happens. I decided against a vanity that had open shelving anywhere near the splash zone.

You have a beautiful bathroom and vanity. IMO, the vanity is not too big. However, I think it is the mirror that makes it look too big. I would either have a wall to wall mirror as suggested by Angel18423 or have an oval mirror centered with the vanity. I am just not sure if you put a framed mirror you would need to remove your art ... they may compete.

Sorry but no, I think a pedestal sink would be better there. If you need storage you could put shelves behind the sink and a mirror between them.

That wall is not feeling balanced, but I love the vanity. If you added barnwood shelving (would have to be treated due to the steam) it all would work out. I think I would paint the upper half one shade darker than the tile for even more impact. I love your floor tile.

Pedestal sinks are lovely but there is nowhere to put stuff. Agree, paint the wall above the tile.

This is where I would consider a wall hung sink to show more floor and stay out of the "splash zone". Many European fixture makers have very stylish ones. A full wall mirror above the tile is what I would choose and then figure out what you really need in there. A towel rack on the back of the door with a TP rail incorporated. Personal stuff can be in caddies for each person who uses this bath to bring in as needed? The less clutter the better.

I like it the way it is. Beautiful IMO. Maybe a slightly large picture. I think more shelves means clutter and no breathing room.

Hey guys! Thanks for such great advice so far. I think I'll add a barn yard shelf under the picture and keep mirror as is? Then add toilet paper rail behind the door to hide clutter. Question: WHAT COLOR do I paint the bathroom? We just redid it to white.

Hi @SandyC. yes, unfortunately, that's the only place for the sink. We didn't want to do re-plumbing so we just replaced the vanity and now trying to balance the room out.

I think you have done the best you can, considering the limited space. I would suggest a shorter mirror with a wide wooden frame to make the room look more balanced. Perhaps in time you could borrow a few feet from the room to the right, as per your photo, move the vanity a bit to the right, and then put the toilet tank against a new wall on the right, so that a person, seated on the commode, faces the shower doors. If you use tile on the three new walls that would surround the toilet in this location, it will solve the "splash" problem.

It's a small but beautiful room; you've done a good job with the space available. I like the white paint and your existing mirror. I think your idea of one shelf under the picture is the right way to go; and then you're finished!

I'm in the midst of sourcing a tiny vanity, and I feel your pain. They are very few and far between. I agree with everyone who says you need a bigger mirror. It will make the space feel much larger, especially if you have multiple people in and out of there in the mornings. I bought this 30" mirrored medicine cabinet. It can be installed recessed into the wall and the doors can be flipped. My plan was to install it first before choosing a vanity. That way I will be able to decide if I can go with a no-storage option like a pedestal or console sink (to make the space seem bigger).

This is a lovely bathroom, but I agree with the others that are saying that the vanity is very heavy looking for the space. The room feels dark. A smaller white vanity or a pedestal sink, something with a lighter feel would look nice. Also, you could extend the vanity top right over the toilet as well. I agree also that the mirror does not do the room any justice. It would look better if it covered the back wall with a larger mirro, but a framed mirror over the vanity or sink would work well as long as it was framed. Then you could double hang two pictures, maybe a smaller one under the larger one, with a black frame, as there is a lot of the same color going on. If you decide to replace the floor, I would do a light bone or white color 12 inch tiles on a diagonal. I think that would brighten up the room considerably and make it seem larger.

Ah the floor was actually just redone. We are stuck with the vanity. Kinda big but probably should've thought about it before we purchased it. Ugh! So now, we are thinking either extending mirror or just adding to the right hand side with a shelf or larger picture. Thanks!
