I have 2 beds covered. One is covered to prevent squash pests, the other is fall brassica, which is STILL being eaten by something. I don't have much luck with brassica seedlings :(

I don't have any row covers in the garden because we've now been 5+ weeks without rain (well, we got 1/100th of an inch on two different days, but that is so small it doesn't even really count), so all I planted for fall was some new tomato plants, and there isn't anything bothering them that would require row covers.+

I might plant seeds of lettuce and other greens if it ever rains again, and then I would immediately put up row covers to protect the seedlings as they sprout.

We have all the usual summer pests, but probably less grasshoppers than anything else. It is our turn to not have a bad hopper year down here, because last year they stripped my garden down to bare stems, including the tomato plants. In a normal year, our grasshopper population peaks in August and begins falling, so if that has already occurred this year, I'm a happy camper, because it hasn't been bad at all. We're making up for it, though, by having a huge population of caterpillars of all kinds.
