I can tell you that that is not a true palm. It could be some kind of yucca tho. Chances are you could ask the owner for a cutting of some sort and you could probably root it.

I'd agree, some type of Yucca and not a palm. You could just look around to see which Yuccas are available in your area and go from there.

In the East, Yucca gloriosa is fairly common and available (but can't tell from you picture), but other species are grown (it is not Y. filimentosa though..., also common). Gloriosa is native to the Southeast, so not a bad species for a wetter climate (some of the western/desert species resent the potentially prolonged wet weather).

Thank you all for the replies. I asked the same question on another forum and all I got was it is a Yucca and wanting closer pics for specific type but all I wanted was a good guess so thank you again.

That far south in Virginia i would guess either Yucca aloifolia or gloriosa.
