I think 70 day is too long.

I planted my fall peas early of the month. Now most of them have come up. Snow pea has better germination than sugar snap. I save all of my seeds from spring. The seeds are not super quality and peas have a relatively low germination rate.

I believe you are late for now with this type of seeds. You may get something if you plant peas about 50 days or so, not 70 days.

RedSun, I have the extra seeds so I want to at least attempt planting them this 'fall'. I take it that I am likely late for this type of planting. Are you saying that I should be planting these Today, ASAP, if I want to try and get these to grow in the fall? thank you

He is saying the weather might be too cold before they are ready to produce. But you never know what the weather will be like and if you want to try go for it. 70 days should definitely be planted now. Providing some shade would be beneficial.

Yes rig a cloth to shade the soil

Since night temp has dropped considerably, the peas should be doing just fine without the shade. Mine is doing great now, bouta two to three inches tall. I do keep them watered in the morning. If you want to plant them, do not delay. 70 day is just too long a variety. Maybe they are shell pea type. There are varieties mature much sooner.

Speak for yourself, it was 75F here last night. IME peas like night temps under 60F.

We have had consistently night temps in the 60s. Regardless, night temp dropped since August.

We had a few cooler days, but today is 95F/70F and lows of 70F forecast for the next 4 days. It doesn't get much hotter than that here.

25 degree differential. Did you get that in July?

In July it averaged mid 80s / mid 60s. I just checked the history. And the peas fizzled out in that weather.

I do not understand your urge of arguing. You believe what you believe. Case closed. Leave OP to plant his peas. Time is short.
