I have 75 I just counted cherry plum plants, 3 yr old and starting to fruit. But I need more plants and would like a different variety. I was wondering if I could do air layering, and while I'm doing that would it be possible to do a graft of different plum just above air layering. What would be best plum to graft asian, hybrid,

Although this one is not tested for our winter yet....most these in link, [except Euro plums] should be OK for zone 3 or possibly 2.

there is not much good variety available in western canada . toka is probably the fastest growing and everything grafted so easily to it. If i could go back five years i would not have planted a few of my trees as the variety brookgold and red are not that great. Waneta is the best for me high quality high yeilding early bearing trees.

Researching your recommendations I'm a bit worried about my wind swept location, most of these are zone 3 ish I'm zone 2 ish.
