Awning windows (upswing) are fantastic over the kitchen sink.

Regarding the casement, you have another 10" before you need to worry about it being too wide. 26" is no problem. I will say that a twin casement over the sink probably IS more common than a single, but again, definitely not in the range of size to worry about unless this is a subpar quality unit. You'll probably want to go back to whatever was specified on the contract to determine how to proceed on that.

Definitely stinks for your contractor. The single casement or awning would've been cheaper to begin with. Good to hear that he is making it right though :)

Good news. Contractor just got back from Home Depot (where he ordered the window) & he's going to switch it out for the single swing!

I agree that double casements can look great over a kitchen sink, but not at only 26" wide. That would make two very narrow sashes. The single casement would look much better at that size. Glad to hear you're getting what you originally specified.
