I'm not sure I'm understanding your concern but based on what I think you meant-could this be a possibility? Not sure how this will read but I just added a short angled wall where the pantry was. I did close off the breakfast nook wall from foyer. Not sure you want to see that when you first walk in?

Thank you Nancy Imgram and er612 for your suggestions. I appreciate your feedback and taking the time to create a visual for me. By built in Breakfast nook (bench), I was thinking exactly like the third image er612 created. My initial concern was walking directly into a dining/kitchen area....guess I've not seen a lot of home plans set up this way.....so don't know if I would like it. I tried to search for pictures on this website, but didn't see anything that might be similar.

I was also thinking maybe that breakfast nook needed a half wall with a column or something, to divide from the foyer, or just to define the space? Also, was thinking even longer island with maybe a column on the end to kind of define that space as well? Maybe to much?

HI -- Move the kitchen into the dining room so the eating area is oriented to the back where the kitchen is now . Move the patio slider to that back wall . Have a wall on the left at the entrance that hides the kitchen when coming into the house . This will open up that whole back of the house .

Though moving the kitchen would be nice, it would be significantly more expensive (moving doors/windows and fixing the exterior, plumbing, electric/gas). If you want separation between the kitchen and dining spaces, you could move the fridge to the island and keep the existing wall that surround the pantry.

Sand, i believe you are trying to stop looking straight into your DR/Kit when you walk in the front door? I would put french/barn/pocket doors there.

Make kitchen L shape and take out bump out bar/eating area?

Remove walls between kitchen and dining room to open up area

Make the opening in the dining room the same orientation as that of the study for privacy and architectual interest and to maintain your entry way.

It looks like you will have room to eat at a bar or do the breakfast nook and put a 'window' above the seat to open it up in the kitchen and hallway or just a cut out the size of a large window.
