Kitchen Update

I'm getting ready to update my kitchen with a new backlash and new countertops. I'm not really a granite fan but would love advice on other countertop options. I haven't updated the kitchen since the 1980's and I hate the Formica we installed back then. I live in a log home and want to stay with a rustic look but not wood or butcher block. I do want countertops that are durable and easy to maintain.

I would recommend a quartz product like Silestone or Caesarstone. They are extremely durable; scratch, stain and scorch resistant. Silestone has a 15 year warranty and Caesarstone has a lifetime warranty. They are great products, each with over 70 colors/styles to choose from. As a kitchen and bath designer, I put one of these brands in 80% of the homes I remodel.
