Hi all. I have a few questions. My mom gave me a bunch of amaryllis seedlings. They are the babies from my grandmother's amaryllis so I imagine it is a pretty old and common variety. The parent(s) are either solid red or solid white.

My my mom tells me that you have to seprate white ones from red ones or the red ones will change the color of the white to red. Is this even possible? Seems like it wouldn't be, but she insists and I know nothing about them.

Are the red really that dominant? Are they that dominant when pollinating and planting from seed? My mom said a red+ white pollination will always yield red.

Also, when I was transplanting them some of the little bulbs were white but some had red in them. Does that indicate color at all or is it insignicant. They were just little bulbs, like the ends on a fat q-tip.

How long can I keep them in a communal pot? They are fine now as far as their leaves but I am just wondering at what point the will become a tangled mass of roots.

I know I am in for quite a wait for blooms.
