Twelve sided cottage

My husband and I are considering buying a small vacation home on an artistic island in the Puget Sound. This quirky almost round (I'm pretty sure it is 12-sided) cottage has caught our eye. Am I crazy to think that this place could be fabulous? I imagine decorating it is a slightly-Scandinavian eclectic style. Do you think this place has potential, or am I just going to have one furniture arranging nightmare after another? What would you do with this place?

WHAT A GREAT PLACE! I SEARCHED HOUZZ FOR "ROUND HOUSE" AND FOUND THIS PICTURE. WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS HOUSE? I'D TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY WINDOW, WITH SMALLER VIGNETTES AND THEN A GREAT SECTIONAL PLUNKED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM.

Go for it. Vacation homes are supposed to be quirky. That's what makes them memorable. And if you proceed slowly with the interiors - live with it for a while - I think you will be surprised at what you can come up with. It's never going to be a classic cape cod so don't try to make it one. Let loose a little and find furnishings that are smaller, lighter (no big overstuffed arm chairs) and colorful and that honor the time when it was built - it looks like the1970's. If nothing else you can have great conversations over a glass of wine about your crazy little 12 sided cottage.

I think it is fabulous and wouldn't hesitate for a minute. We stayed at a similar, almost round, house that was rented out as a vacation property, with a circular deck, two floors, and it was one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed. I think it has great potential.
