I feel your pain. I never ever seem to get enuf of anything, especially annuals and mulch. It's is hot here too in N Ga.

I know exactly! In fact, my nursery is used to seeing me come straight from sitting in the dirt to them. Very embarrassing, but I still do it.

Lol. Well there are some nurseries I frequent that I don't care, others I feel like I should at least look half way decent.

I had to sort through the packs of allysum, some only had two plants when they were suppose to have three (which is why I ran out in the first place). I casually mentioned it to one of the clerks and he just laughed and said, "Yeah I find that sometimes too". duh. I was kinda hoping he'd give me a break on the price even tho it was only $.99 to begin with. This particular nursery hardly ever has sales and usually has lots of plants, trees, and shrubs left at the end of the season. I don't understand how they make a go of it unless most of their business is to landscapers.

Bought a bag of mulch too. Normally I use my shredded leaf mulch but for some reason I thought the bark mulch might keep the moisture in better. It's triple shredded, pretty nice stuff actually. Not many wood slivers. I use it in the edging around my boxwood hedge borders. Which is another job that should be done soon.

Fortunately, my style of gardening isn't such that anyone would notice a plant missing in the "pattern", but I can imagine the frustration. I rarely clean up to run to the hardware store or gardening center. I assume they are used to seeing people at their grubbiest.

There really wasn't a "pattern", just needed more to fill the space. So I'm the only one that washes my face and hands, combs my hair, and changes a sweaty t-shirt with dirt on it, to run to the hardware store or gardening center? At least I don't take a shower. : )

Yesterday the allysum wasn't looking good, so I watered them some more. However, the vinca looks great, and what a pretty magenta color. I'll definitely look for it next Spring.

Supposed to have cooler temps this week. I started painting the top of the pergola in the orchard Saturday and spent all day Sunday trying to finish up the major parts. Now all I have to do is the one remaining side of the slats that make up the "roof", and the top of the slats. But - it's only the first coat! ugh. I think my eyeballs even got sunburned.

No I wash my face and hands and sometimes have to wash my feet. Lol. My clothes definitely need changed bc I'm a messy messy gardener. I love playing in the dirt too much to care how dirty I get until I gotta hit the nursery. I'm sure they think I'm crazy enuf without showing up a sweaty dirty mess with frazzled hair and dirt strewn all over me and leaves from pruned bushes hanging all in my hair. Gotta love our hobby!!! LMAO - yes! the leaves in the hair. Who knows how many times I do a quick hair adjustment and not realize there are bits of vegetable matter on top or in the back. Sometimes twigs too.

I carry a bandana in one pocket to wipe the sweat off my face but sometimes I just lift the front of my t-shirt to do a quick face wipe. Bad habit.

You don't even wanna see my shirts. Bad habit but quick and its right there so hey! lol Im telling you i'm the messiest gardner out there. oh well!! Judy

After many years I finally started wearing a good pair of gloves. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to stand them but then I realized how much faster and easier I seem to be able to weed with them; and not nearly as worried about spider and other bug bites. Plus no more crud under fingernails all the time. Right now I can't remember the brand of glove but they are lightweight, fit snug, but tough enough to clean up roses too.

Too far to drive back (35 minutes each way) but I do try to have fairly clean jeans and brush my hair. It's not the nursery, but sure enough....if you don't, there's that person from high school you haven't seen in YEARS!!! LOL

Thats true Lavender jess. Plus you see all the girls that are fixed up from head to toe even strolling around the local Home Depot. You just never know so I try to get right in and out if I don't wanna be seen.
