HELP WITH PAINT COLOR

I have a pretty small main/guest bathroom. The tile is blue-ish and gray-ish, and the bathtub, toilet and sink is light gray (what were they thinking?) I am ok with the gray toilet, bathtub etc. but I want to repaint my bathroom. My cabinets are an oak color ... which is strange. I thought about painting the bathroom a bright white but I thought it would really be too bright in there. It's an off yellow/navaho white right now. UGLY! Anyone have any advice on the paint color? Should I go with a dark gray? Maybe darker than the gray in my tile/bathtub? My fear is that it would make the bathroom feel even more small?!?! Not really crazy about trying to go with a blue -- it's kind of an ugly blue ... more "baby blue" and I don't like that color for walls. I'd love to hear ideas! Thank you!

I think that white would be your best option. A whiter white than you have now...:) A light gray would surely be another option. It appears that your trim is white? I would surely paint the oak cabinet white also. Otherwise it would stand out in a bad way. Can you post pics of the rest of the room?

I would also use a white shower curtain after painting the room white. That will do a lot to brighten the room. Do you have a window?

THANK YOU. Yes, there is a window, and here are pictures of the rest of it. Yes, I'll be redoing the shower curtain too, but wanted to wait until I picked the color.

Window is above the toilet. Hard to take pictures in there. It's small. LOL

I'd look at Crisp Muslin for paint color. It is light and bright with just enough color to contrast with the fixtures and trim.

why would anyone paint white.. it's dull..has no color.. gets dirty quick..I have my own business in home improvement.. I do a lot of painting.. if I was to do this bathroom.. I would not out anything white in there.. the colors are actually nice.. but the sink is dated.. if you have the money..change the sink..out in black cabnits... paint the walls grey.. and do black trim.. that would look beautiful.. black is a classy color.. believe it or not.. but keep the whites out.. you might even want to use two different colors of grey. one light.. and one dark..with black trim..good luck

Thank you. Nothing else in my house is white, other than the trim, but I just didn't want to do a total re-vamp in there. If I change the sink, it won't match the toilet/tub ... so that was my husband's worry. He thinks it would look funny to have an updated sink that doesn't match the toilet etc. My house was built in 2002 and the prior owners made everything very modern .... other than this bathroom which (to me) looks straight out of the 80's! Ha Ha But it's not been painted and I think that can make a big difference. The rest of my house was painted last year. I have very tall ceilings, even in the bathroom, so I think if I paint, and then do larger decorations on the wall, the will update it enough for me until I can justify a total re-vamp. Daughter moved into college dorm last week as a freshie ... so we want to try to help her as much as possible, so money is a consideration. :)

I don't think the gray fixtures are bad at all. I wouldn't even repaint the walls. A white cabinet, mirror frame, and shower curtain would tie into the trim and look lovely.

it's not the sink.. the sink is pretty.. it's the wood.... black cabinets would look nice.. and yes paint makes a big difference.. and grey and black would look really nice with that tile..

Paint is cheap. Check out a very light taupe. It would freshen things up without being too bright. The vanity works, but the mirror isn't doing you any favors there. How about a new chrome oval one?

The sink is ok but the faucet is really bad. Could you change the faucet and leave the sink?

Thank you everyone!! I am going to repaint for sure, and LeeLee ... get a new faucet. You're right! That white one sticks out like a sore thumb. I'm going to get a new shower curtain, and new decor ... maybe see about a new mirror, but I might just try to use this one and do something new to it. REALLY unsure about black trim! I'll have to do some research on that. :) Thanks everyone!

What do you all think? Dark gray like this and painting the maple cabinet and mirror frame white?!?!?

Sounds good. Paint the cabinet first and then see if you need new wall paint.

I don't like it white and gray seabeewyfe. Too sterile and institutional. I think in a few years everyone will hopefully be over gray paint and stark white cabs. Its pretty now. Just paint the walls light and bright and get a new shower curtain. The wood is nice and it isn't very big so its not making a big statement either way.

I would paint the walls gray in this case. I would try a white or off white shower curtain. Try the simplest approach first.

A very pale grey and white trim would work
