I would say either a carpenter or GC could do it, but I would imagine a carpenter would be less costly.

What you are describing can usually be done by a handyman. Many handyman services are franchised throughout the country. Call around and find one that is familiar with your needs. The cost of dividing the labor between all of the trades needed is more than the time it will take to do the job. Plumbers charge about $100 per hour including drive time. Electricians (which you will need to hook up the dishwasher and possibly run a circuit from the panel) the same, a carpenter...charged out at $50 per hour. the GC takes 20% on top of all that. The handyman? About the same as the carpenter, carries the tools he needs to do the job and gets in, gets out. Most carpenters have done the work as well, just want that guy with insurance and a van full of tools. The average carpenter doesn't have the liability insurance if the install leaks and the hardwood floor gets damaged (happened to me, i carry liability insurance).

Good point. If you do call a handyman, make sure he is licensed and insured!
