Strange question? Yes, yes it is.

Horse nettle has been a long established problem in two of my flower beds (reclaimed from century old hay fields). This year, though, horse nettle isn't a problem. It has already emerged, each plant set a seed capsule and then died. Most years it grows all too well through November. This year, all I've found is newly dead HN.

Could our heavy rains have drowned the roots? There isn't even any left to feed the potato beetles that so enjoy the leaves every October.
