House Stripes

My husband and I just built this house and we love it! Our dilemma is that I like the stripes on top of the house, but my husband and my contractor don't like them. They say they're too much. I would like to hear your opinions. Do you like the stripes or do you think we should paint over them with the same dark blue as our house in order to let the other elements shine? :-)

Paint over them. Paint the garage doors house body color as well.

I like the stripes but think that with the wood shakes it's too much. If you paint the shakes blue to match then it would balance the house. Leave the wood front door and the wood over the entrance for the contrast. Leave the garage door white. I think it would look great!

I think either the stripes or the wood shakes and I prefer the wood shakes.

And yes either paint the garage blue or have it painted to look like the cedar shakes color, most talented painters can do it

Your front porch furniture would look great painted a bright color to make them show up from the street

The house is so pretty and you miss its features as your eyes just go to the stripes.

Paint the stripes as well as the garage door. The cedar shakes and stacked stone look nice.

Thanks everyone! I think we we'll definitely paint the stripes. I don't know that we can afford to do the garage door right away, but maybe down the road a little. :-)

Paint the stripes, too much. Agree paint the garage door house body color. The eye should not be drawn to the garage, but rather the front door.

Lovely home, btw congratulations. Maybe add some colorful plants in large containers by your door, so the eye is drawn there.
