Quick question..is rugs in a bathroom outdated?

When ever I see pictures of bathrooms they never show rugs. Is this a outdated thing? Thanks for your help!

    Matching fuzzy toilet seat cover/toilet surround sets are dated, imo.

    A nice area rug can work.
