Apparently they don't have the same strength sun, in Budapest, as we do in Oklahoma. I can absolutely prove that you can burn leaves by watering in our sun. I've killed trees, even watering around their roots during the hottest (strongest sun) times of the day. If you haven't had a plastic bucket MELT in the sunlight, when left empty and on its side, then you might not understand what strong sunlight is. They you might be experimenting with a different strength sunlight. I grew up in NJ and thought the whole thing was a myth too. But coming to Oklahoma taught me otherwise.

Maybe fusarium wilt?
