Thanks W Brown for your reply. I wish I could do something else, but unfortunately the space wouldn't support it. Unfortunately it's a more angled Bay and not a straight sided one. I tried 2 chairs and a small table but it' s too close to the bed. I guess I could just leave it the way it is, but it just seems to need something. Besides I have a cat that would love to sit on it to look out the window.

Sorry I was trying to reply to you, but hit "thank you"-----I'm new to this, Anyway, no I should have clarified that, I'll have a cushion on it, and as far as the hard seat area it can be any wood. I was actually talking about the face of it below the cushion the part that will be seen. The whole trim around the window is redwood, but the walls are "off white".

Thanks that's how I'm leaning. I've looked at what seems to be hundreds of pictures on here, but there aren't many that fit my situation as far as redwood trim and white walls featuring window seats. I think that probably makes the most sense. Trim dark redwood like the rest of trim in room (around doors---baseboard etc.) and walls off white so face painted like walls.

Match your redwood trim for the face.

My cat loves her bay window! I have window coverings on each individual window, but also long drapes that I can close across the whole area, which gives her a nice cozy place to hide in the sun.

As to your question, it's a matter of whether you want to notice the seat itself. If yes, make it stand out in redwood. If you want it to blend in with your room more, paint it the same as the walls.

I guess in the end there is no "right/wrong" answer and I can go either way. That was my first thought Charleee since I did another one in our bed and breakfast that way, just thought it might blend in better as Oragngecamera suggested doing it like the wall color and then do a pattern cushion.
