Centipedes are predators, and are attracted to prey. The presence of centipedes in large numbers suggests you have a thriving ecosystem in your compost. If you want to get rid of the centipedes, you should probably avoid poison, as that could kill the beneficial bugs that are in there, too. You might try putting up a bird feeder or scattering some seed to attract birds (some of them eat centipedes), or even introducing a toad to the area (also centipede eaters).

Alternatively, you could research what kind of conditiond centipedes prefer (hot, cool, wet, dry, etc), and then change the local conditions to something they find uncomfortable, encouraging them to leave.

I have read that you can flood your bed and centipedes will scramble to the surface. After surfacing, a propane torch is used to incinerate them. You then have a centipede free wet bin.
