Multiple flower sunflower name

I sometimes see these growing in yards in summer--multiple branching same size flower head with dark centers--but I never see the seeds for sale at the local garden place. Perhaps I can find them online, if I only knew the name.

There are quite a few branching sunflower varieties.

Italian White is creamy-yellow, not as deep yellow as the flowers in your photo.

Stokes lists this variety, which is a deep yellow :

I grow quite a few AUTUMN BEAUTY sunflowers every year and love them. Am also trying Chianti this year.

Is it too late to plant some kind of sunflower now? I'm in NYC area.

Probably too late. Most sunflowers would need MINIMUM of 60 days to reach flowering size. With the shorter days that really means 75+ days at this time of year.

In my experience, even my smaller, branched varieties need well over two months to begin flowering. And that's when they are planted in the early spring.

Bio, I live in Northern Alabama, and it's too late for me to plant more seeds!

You'll have fun looking around to find a variety you like and planting them directly in the ground in a sunny location next spring.

OK I appreciate that, thanks. Not sure what went wrong this year as so few of the sunflowers grew and I had planted a few different kinds. I'm not giving up though. Chris, I'm going to try those next year, thanks!
