Andersen Patio Door ?????

My contractor installed an entry door. It appears he did not order an Andersen entry door but rather a Patio door. Not a terribly big deal except the door handle does not have a key lock on the exterior. My question is this... Do the hinges of the door on new construction generally match the finish selection of the door handle?? My contractor made an error and forgot to order the polished chrome that was in the architect's plans for either the door or all the windows. He still has not replaced the window hardware and is not going to but I think the hinges should be changed to match the door handle and not be the white plastic looking ones. Advice?? Hinge chrome or leave them white?

Are you saying your contractor installed a sliding patio door instead of a normal entry door? I am confused.

Make him do all necessary work that has been previously agreed upon,do not get in a hurry,if he wants finished with the project as I'm certain you do he will make the necessary changes

You will not notice the window hardware after a while, but he should definitely get the right door. You need to be able to unlock your front door!

Whitecupcakefeakamargo - It is an entry door ( or supposed to be) he used a patio door instead. Andersen patio doors do not have a key lock from the outside and are not meant to be used a primary entry. So as of now, there is no way to enter the back door when it is locked as there is no key holes in the door handle set.

Well, if you did not request a patio door than that IS a big deal. If it turns out you like the patio door than the contractor should at least install a key lock system on the door. If you do not like the patio door, I would demand what I ordered.

As far as the window hinges, If the windows are white, I would leave the hinges white. Why draw attention to hinges? I have white windows with white hinges. I also have a white sliding door with oil rubbed bronze handle. I never thought to match the door handle. I guess that is just personal preference.

If it's an Andersen hinged or gliding patio door, you can get keyed locks for all the of them. It's just an option, because most people do not want them.
